A client representing a major power utility company approached us with a project, where they needed to present the focus group study in real-time to three locations in the United States. In addition to the real-time National connection, they also needed a local viewing solution for associates on-site.

The challenge for us was that the venue was a boutique hotel with poor Wi-Fi and internet options – as well as limited connectivity for power in critical locations.

After evaluating the site for the focus group studies, we determined that a cellular bonder would be the best option for data and streaming. This would allow for us to provide our own internet service on-site, without worrying about the local venue’s connection speed and reliability.

Secondly, we determined that utilizing 12v broadcast monitors on c-stands would allow for the self-contained placement of viewing from virtually anywhere in the venue. With the average battery life of this screens being between 4-6 hours, it made for an ideal viewing session. Batteries would then be replaced between sessions for another round of focus groups.

​Lastly, to connect the cameras, we used a tuned wireless protocol over IP for our PTZ function as well as wireless SDI equipment to transmit signal to the viewing room. We provided boundary microphones and wireless lav (Lavaliere) microphones, which connected through the wireless camera stream, for perfectly clear audio.

​This allowed us to remain out of sight of the focus groups and be in direct communication with the research associates in the viewing room.
