When it comes to large-scale outdoor events like lineman rodeos, training field competitions, or multi-zone public gatherings, clear and consistent audio coverage is critical — but not always easy. 22nd Avenue provides distributed sound solutions with a professional approach to managing audio across expansive, open environments where a single PA system won't cut it. By zoning speakers, using wireless infrastructure, and strategically placing control hubs, event organizers can ensure announcements, music, and commentary are heard wherever the audience is — without overwhelming nearby zones or causing feedback issues. When your event takes place across an open-air utility yard — complete with wood chip groundcover, steel toe boots, and linemen scaling 40-foot poles — the last thing you want to worry about is garbled audio. That’s exactly the challenge we embraced at a recent Lineman Rodeo hosted by a leading technical training college in Northern California. And it’s not our first rodeo. The Challenge: Two Zones, One Message With climbing pits split into two major competition areas and an emcee stage located between them, the event needed a clean, distributed sound solution that would deliver announcements clearly — across a noisy, outdoor environment — without overwhelming one side or the other. We deployed two discrete “mix zones,” each with their own calibrated speaker arrays. This gave us independent control of volume and clarity for each area. Emcee Chris could roam freely with wireless mics, while the audience followed the action — and the announcements — from wherever they stood. Rapid Load-In, Rock-Solid Control We arrived early on event day to place staging, power, and all PA gear — including redundant wireless receivers and a digital mix system, just in case the unexpected happened. And it did. A last-minute playlist hiccup was resolved in minutes, and even when one mic lost range during a pit-side announcement, our team quickly relocated antennas to keep things seamless. This is what “riding the fader” looks like in the field. A Scalable Model for the Western U.S. We’ve built our service model around scalability. Whether it’s a graduation, rodeo, safety summit, or training day — we’re equipped to serve campuses and events throughout California, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, Oregon, and beyond. With hubs near Boise, Salt Lake, Sacramento, and Scottsdale, our team delivers rider-class sound systems, staging, video walls, and livestream services — all tailored to fit the needs of trade schools, public agencies, and workforce development events. Your Training Event, Elevated We know how to make your event sound great — even when it’s outdoors, full of moving parts, and runs on a tight schedule. Want help with your next one?
